Paradise Valley Arizona Residential Property For Sale

Paradise Valley began settlement just around the end of World War II. In the beginning it was a small residential community in northern Maricopa County with only a few commercial businesses. Homes were small in size and plain in style with the majority of land parcels being one to five acres. Veteran servicemen were coming home from bases and overseas due to the end of the war and many migrated to this area because of the large number of military bases located in Arizona.

During the late 1950′s neighboring Scottsdale and Phoenix were rapidly growing and both cities wanted to extend their borders to accommodate this growth. The residents of Paradise Valley worried that a real estate surge would cause Phoenix and Scottsdale to overtake their community. A group of citizens organized and passed around petitions for incorporation to save Paradise Valley. There were of course reasons for this besides preventing being over-run, housing development was limited to one residence per acre and the area was to be kept strictly residential with no large or industrial type businesses, only small necessary businesses were allowed. They were successful in 1961 when Paradise Valley officially became incorporated.

Today Paradise Valley is well known for its large, expensive and exclusive homes being one of the most upscale areas in the valley. There is even a real, very large Castle built into the side of Camelback Mountain. The area is also famous for some of Arizonas legendary landmarks. Camelback Mountain sits on the southern border, Piestewa Peak is on the west and the main corridor features Mummy Mountain.
